The movie “Pay It Forward” is an adaptation from the novel of the same name written by Catherine Ryan Hyde. The movie is about how a young boy, Trevor, attempts to make the world a better place as a part of his social studies assignment. He develops a theory called “pay it forward” where whenever one person receives an act of kindness from somebody, the recipient shows his gratefulness by helping three other people and each of the three should help three others etc.
Young Trevor believes that by maintaining a chain thus the world can be made a better place. The movie travels back and forth with Trevor and his remarkable concept of changing the world and Jay, a Los Angeles News reporter, trying to track back to the root of the pay it forward theory. There are a few setbacks initially for Trevor while applying his radical theory like the case of the street thug whom Trevor brings home, feeds him and gives him his personal savings to start a new life.
The street thug soon lapses back into his confused life with drugs and other activities. But Trevor refuses to give up and soon results start showing with a chain of good deeds connecting the most unlikely of people. What happens then to this chain? Does the world become a better place? Will Jay Mohr be able to track down Trevor? This heart warming movie will touch your senses and leave your throats dry. A good watch with children, family and friends for an evening with pop corn and soda.
My son and husband loved it as I am sure you will too. Original DVDs are available in the market.
