Homemade Chicken Nuggets

Tired of your kids wanting to go to fast food restaurants all the time? Do you resort to ‘ready to fry’ items to keep them happy? Here is a recipe that is easy, homemade, healthy and good enough to satisfy their fast food cravings.

Ingredients
1/2 cup maida
1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
Salt and pepper
2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into pieces
1 large egg 1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup breadcrumbs

Method

  • Place the chicken pieces in a blender; add salt, pepper and garlic powder. Blend till it is a consistency that you can roll it in balls. Roll into small balls and set aside. Place the flour in a bowl and season with a little salt and pepper.
  • Whisk the egg and 1 tablespoon water in a medium bowl.
  • Roll the balls in the flour, dip in the egg mixture, then the breadcrumbs, gently pressing the balls to flatten, and set on a clean plate. Repeat with the remaining pieces of chicken.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces to the pan (work in batches if needed) and brown on each side. Transfer the chicken nuggets to a paper-towel-lined plate. Serve while hot.
