Boredom Buster Fridge List

Family Fun Time: Boredom Buster Fridge List

As holidays begin do you, Mom and Dad, get that sinking feeling – how to keep them occupied for two whole months?

Kids are bored and you are stressed. So, how about trying some new ideas this holiday which will keep you and your family happy? It is worth the effort even if it means a break in your routine.

At the beginning of the holidays brainstorm and come up with as many ideas as you can of activities the family can do. These ideas are for times together and for those times when you really are busy but the kids still need something to do. The list can be a real saver when you do not know what to do with your kids and they are bored. Put them up on your fridge and use them when you are wondering what to do with the kids.

Here is an example of one of the lists we made. The lists are just brain joggers; your kids may think of a huge variation on each of these ideas:

  1. Write a crazy poem
  2. Play football
  3. Bake a pizza
  4. Lie on the grass and watch the clouds
  5. Read a book
  6. Make a junk model castle
  7. Make a ‘base’ (a hiding place in the castle)
  8. Camping indoors
  9. Puppet theatre
  10. Water fun

These are just a few ideas, I’m sure your kids will come up with a whole lot more for you to choose from.

Some of these can be done together as a whole family, some the kids could do together and some could be done by an individual child.  You could even have two separate lists for kid’s activities and family activities. Also make a recording chart where you put stars or stickers every time kids choose and complete one of the activities. You could also have some surprise prizes to go with it!

Some of the activities may stick in your child’s mind for a lifetime and you will be able to look back and agree that you had a really good time.
