Here is an instant, nutritious, low calorie, protein rich recipe ideal for breakfast and snack time. It is made with gram flour/besan and can be a part of weight loss diet since it is low in calories and is also a good vegetarian protein source. You can throw some seasonal vegetables like carrots, spinach, beetroot for added nutrition.
Ingredients
1 cupbesan/gram flour
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 small tomato, finely chopped
¼ cup chopped coriander leaves/dhaniapatta
1 small green chili, finely chopped
½ inch ginger, finely chopped
½ cup water
salt as per taste
oil as required
Method
Add 1 cup besan in a mixing bowl and add all the ingredients except water and oil. Add water and whisk. Mix to a smooth flowing consistency. Break lumps if any while mixing batter. Heat a tawa or a flat pan on a low flame and gently begin to spread the batter with the back of the ladle.
Cook on a low flame and drizzle ½ to 1 tsp oil at the edges and all around. Continue to cook till the base gets light golden. Flip and now cook the other side.
Serve hot with any chutney of your choice.
