Making the Most of Personality Differences in Your Marriage Men are from Mars and women are from Venus kind of debates and books have become so clichéd and predictable. When I came across yet another book that talks about the differences between men and women, I wasn’t expecting much. However, I was pleasantly surprised with ‘I Love You, But Why Are We So Different?’

This book did not generalize and categorize men and women but talked about different temperaments and how differing temperaments can cause problems in marriage. The author, Tim LaHaye, a Temperaments expert, delves into the four basic personality types to help couples turn their personal differences into marriage–enriching assets. The first part introduces the four basic temperaments as well as the temperament blends.

As you read you will probably think of certain people in your life and you will definitely figure out your own temperament combination. In the second half, he talks about making adjustments after marriage as he believes people usually marry someone with the opposite temperament because we are attracted to strengths in areas where we are weak. This book aims to help couples use their differences to build a fulfilling and lasting relationship.

I found it to be quite a helpful book with useful insights about temperament and marriage. Like the author says in the book, “Sometimes it takes marriage to reveal what a person really is.”
